Not even a crumb?

No matter what time we eat dinner Cogan ALWAYS wants a before bed time snack. Sometimes this gets to be just plain annoying. I don't mind getting him a snack if we eat dinner at 5:30 or 6 and he goes to bed at 8...I feel like he MAY be a little hungry. This happens if we eat at 7:40 and he goes to bed at 8. There is no possible way that he is hungry, and if he is he should have eaten more dinner. Usually these before bed time snacks are goldfish or raisins or can be as big as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. One day we had enough and we said no to the before bed time snack. This was CRAZY in the world of a toothless 6 year old. He decided to beg and plea and bargain. We stood our ground. "Please Mommy I just am so hungry I NEED a snack" ..."I am starving" and so on. Finally as we tucked him in his cozy spiderman sheets and turned on the holiday music he tried one last time..."I really need a before bedtime snack, don't you hear my stomach?" I said no. "I will not be able to sleep if I don't have a snack" I said no. " Not even something small?" I said no. "Not even a raisin?" I said no. "Not even a crumb?" I then told him that I would take his holiday calendars that have candy in them in exchange for a crumb. He thought about this for a split second and then quickly said no. "Why would I give you all 3 of my candy calendars for one tiny crumb? What will a crumb do anyway?"

  1. Great story! We go through the same thing here! I'm going to have to try your tactics. :)
